biography
Dal served in the Army during World War II. In Dal's own words, "I was a Sergeant with the 467th AAA Automatic Weapons Battalion (Halftracks), 29th Division which landed D-Day on Omaha Beach, Normandy France on June 6, 1944. I also fought and was wounded at the Battle of the Bulge in the Ardennes, Belgium...After the war I served as a 2nd Lieutenant in Czechoslovakia as Commander of a Displaced Persons Camp."
