
S/SGT Jack Murphy
Biography
Jack, from Pontiac, IL, served in the Army during the Korean War with C Company, 1st Battalion, 14th Infantry 25th Infantry Division. He was on the front lines during the winter of 1951 to 1952 in Korea, and was in the "Iron Triangle" between Kumhwa and Chorwan in front of Hill 1062, where they rotated east and replaced the 2nd Division in the Mun-Dung-Ni Valley and "Heartbreak Ridge" and the "Punch Bowl" before rotating home.
After Korea, he served in the "Old Guard", President's Honor Guard (3rd Infantry Regiment) at Fort Meyer, VA (1st Battalion) and at Fort McNair (2nd Battalion) in 1953.
