Wuebbens, from Flanagan, IL, served in the Air Force during World War II and the Korean War. In John's own words, "I served with the 8th Air Force in World War II on the ground crew for P-38 fighter planes. I was recalled for the Korean War and served as NCO in charge of armament for fighter aircraft in Korea."
