phm3 john r. litchfield

biography

John served in the Navy during World War I as a Pharmacist's Mate. He served with the 24th Company, 6th Marine Regiment when he was killed in action while attempting to pull a wounded Marine from a trench. The destroyer U.S.S. Litchfield (DD 336) was named in his honor.
