
SGT Duane Currington
biography
Duane, from Fairbury, IL, joined the Army on September 29th, 1966. He attended boot camp at Fort Campbell, KY, then jungle warfare training at Fort Pol, LA. While at Fort Polk, he was awarded outstanding trainee and high score in the 81 mm mortar training. In Vietnam, he was assigned to the 9th Military Police Company, 9th Infantry Division. He was in charge of traffic investigation for the 9th Division. After that, he ran convoys in the Delta to the Saigon docks and went on search and destroy missions north of Tan Am.
