biography

Vertrees served in the Army with the 116th Infantry Regiment, 29th Infantry Division. He landed on Omaha Beach on June 6th, 1944 during the D-Day invasion. He later fought in the Ardennes Forest of Belgium during the Battle of the Bulge.
