SK3 Laverne R. Hasselbring

Biography

Hasselbring joined the Navy on February 5th, 1944. He attended boot camp at Great Lakes, IL. He then debarked for Norfolk on April 13th, 1944 and sailed to Oran, Africa. He then rode the 40-8 train to Bizerte, Africa. He helped supply the Anzio Beachhead while attached to the USS LST-379.He served on USS LST-379 in the Mediterranean as a Storekeeper. He then returned to Palermo, Sicily, and was stationed there until August. He then sailed to Naples, Italy, to prepare for the Southern France Invasion. After the invasion, he returned to Palermo, when he was stationed for the duration of the war.
