
S/SGT John Tammen
Biography
John, from Flanagan, IL, was one of three brothers to serve during World War II. He served in the Army with the Americal Division, and saw combat at Guadalcanal and Bougainville. The Tammen family recieved word of John's death on April 19th, 1945. Only three days later, on April 22nd, they learned that his younger brother, Clarence, had also been killed in Europe. A third brother, Pete, also served overseas.
