My Story - Robert Atchison

Atchison, from Massapequa, NY, served in the Army with B Company, 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division in Korea from 1951 to 1952. He was awarded the Silver Star for heroic action in the "Iron Triangle" region of Korea between Kumhwa and Chorwon. He was also awarded the South Korean Wharang Distinguished Service Medal.
After Korea, Atchison served with G Company, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Infantry Regiment (Old Guard) at Fort McNair, DC. He served 22 years with the New York City Police Department as a detective, 26th Squad, shield # 3232.
